Washington sludge legends the Melvins go ‘Lite’ with Bungle/Fantomas bassist for new album Freak Puke.
They might’ve called this incarnation Melvins Lite, but there’s certainly nothing soft about the tunes, or the version of the band. It’s King Buzzo (as always), Dale Crover, and Mr. Bungle and Fantomas bassist Trevor Dunn.
The album is a typically-unnerving mix of lurching psych-rock and their trademark caustic noise (plus cello!), and another worthy addition to their sprawling catalogue of the Melvins. Plus, it’s titled Freak Puke.
The album is obviously out via Mike Patton’s Ipecac record label tomorrow, June 8. Check out the tracklist and sample the groovy ‘Leon VS The Revolution’ below.
