Metallica’s ‘Metallica’ album remains the biggest selling album of the SoundScan era and clocked up a further 110,000 sales in 2012.
“Metallica’ (aka the Black Album) has now sold 15,845,000 units since SoundScan started measuring sales in 1993.
The top 8 albums remained the same as last year but we saw one new entry into the all-time Top 10 this year. Bob Marley & The Wailers ‘Legend’ appeared above NSync ‘No Strings Attached’ at number one with 11,220,000 sales.
The NSync album sold 15,000 units during 2012 to bring its total to 11,137,000. Celine Dion ‘Falling Into You’ became the Top 10 casualty exiting the Top 10.
The Top 10 Selling Albums of the SoundScan era (since 1993) are:

3. Alanis Morissette – Jagged Little Pill (14,806,000)
4. Backstreet Boys – Millennium (12,209,000)

7. Santana – Supernatural (11,732,000)
8. Creed – Human Clay (11,632,000)
9. Bob Marley & The Wailers – Legend (11,220,000)
