While the Super Bowl half-time show, this year with Coldplay, is always one of the most viewed musical moments of the year, there are also numerous concerts in other areas around the host city every year.
This week, the Dave Matthews Band is playing at San Francisco’s Pier 70, sponsored by DirecTV and AXS and, Friday night, they present Pharrell Williams.
DirecTV is then holding their sixth annual night before the Super Bowl show on Saturday, again in association with AXS, with Run-DMC and the Red Hot Chili Peppers while AT&T Park will host the CBS Radio The Night Before show with Cage the Elephant and Metallica.
Rev. Run of Run-DMC told the Associated Press that “We get to be in the energy of the Super Bowl, which is amazing. This should be high energy, fun and cool.”
Finally, on the big day, Seal and Sam Hunt will perform on the Super Bowl 50 NFL Tailgate Party at Levi’s Stadium.
Last year’s Super Bowl was watched by 118.5 million viewers in the U.S. alone making it the most watched program in TV history while the Katy Perry half-time show actually increased those numbers making the the most watched performance.
