Michael Bublé will battle with Beyoncé for the top of the Australian album chart this week while John Legend is heading for a third week on top of the singles.
John Legend should hold on for a third week at No.1 in Australia with his piano ballad “All of Me”, helped by his shows around the country alongside Alicia Keys.
Making a play for the top spot though is MAGIC! again with “Rude”, along with “Trumpets” for Jason DeRulo and one of this week’s Top 10 debuts, “Happy” (TW-10) for Pharrell Williams, this should jump up into the Top 5 this coming weekend.
Retaining their Top 10 status should be Eminem and Rihanna with “The Monster”, Pitbull and Ke$ha with “Timber”, Guy Sebastian with “Like a Drum”, Avicii with “Hey Brother” and potentially jumping up into the Top 10 could be “Free” (TW-26) for Rudimental and Emeli Sande and maybe a return for Ed Sheeran and ‘The Hobbit 2’ theme “I See Fire” (TW-21).
The Vamps and “Can We Dance” (TW-24) could land within the Top 20 this week, whilst “Team” (TW-33) for Lorde could be back up into the high-end of the Top 30. MKTO could break out of their lower fifty placing with “God Only Knows” (TW-44) by jumping up into the Top 30, as too Flume & Chet Faker with “Drop the Game” (TW-32). Mariah Carey’s 1994 single “All I Want for Christmas is You” (TW-50) could jump up into the lower Top 40, whilst London Grammar are potentially on track for their first Top 50 placing as “Strong” (TW-79) could zoom up this week. The only possible Top 50 debut could come from Lea Michele (Rachel on ‘Glee’) with her debut single “Cannonball”.
Lower 50: Bonnie Anderson has been rising with her track “Raise the Bar” (TW-62) for the past few weeks, and this week it could reach the higher end of the Top 60, whilst a debut for John Mayer with Katy Perry on “Who You Love” could also land in the same area. “Say Something” (TW-69) for A Great Big World looks like moving up this week, as well as a return for “Feel This Moment” for Pitbull and Christina Aguilera due to it being used in the ‘So You Think You Can Dance 2014’ promos on Channel 10.
Miley Cyrus could enter on two tracks this week, as guest on the Will.i.am song “Feelin’ Myself” within the Top 70 and from her current ‘Bangerz’ album “FU” (Top 80), both tracks featuring rapper French Montana (no relation to Hannah!). There is also a possibility that Childish Gambino could enter with the track “3005” right at the bottom of the Top 100.
Albums: It could have been a white-wash festive season with Michael Buble and his “Christmas” album, until last Friday, when Beyonce released her fifth studio album to an unsuspecting world, all of which means that she should take out the top spot in Australia this coming weekend, making it her first ARIA No.1 album, as she hit No.2 with her first album “Dangerously in Love” (2003) and her fourth set “4” (2011).
Human Nature should be the other Top 5 seasonal set with “The Christmas Album”, whilst Mariah’s “Merry Christmas” (TW-28) could jump up into the higher end of the Top 20. Retaining their Top 10 status should be Lorde, Eminem, Twelfth Man and maybe Avicii will be back up again this week with “True”. Also Jack Johnson’s tour could also boost “From Here to Now to You” (TW-43) up either into the Top 10 or at least Top 20.
US rock group We the Kings could see their fourth album “Somewhere Somehow” debut within the Top 20, becoming their second set to chart here. Jason DeRulo could leap back up with “Tattoos” (TW-50) into the Top 30 thanks to “Trumpets”, whilst Matt Corby could debut in the same region with his “Live on the Resolution Tour” (EP). US comedy trio StarBomb could see their debut album enter within the Top 40, reminiscent of The Lonely Island and their sense of humor (!), whilst the new John Mayer and Katy Perry duet could pull his “Paradise Valley” album back into the Top 60.
