The RMIT Gallery in Melbourne will feature 40 years of Mushroom in the popular culture exhibition ‘Music, Melbourne and Me’ and the desk of Michael Gudinski will have a starring role.
One of the displays will be a replica of Michael Gudinski’s Dundas Lane office. The Mushroom Group has been housed in the Albert Part, Melbourne warehouse since the 1970s and punters will be given a view of where the deal gets done.
Collections from Gudinski, Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum, Skyhooks, Kylie Minogue and Split Enz will also be part of the exhibition.
“I’m very proud of the many achievements and huge success of the Mushroom Group artists and companies,” Gudinski said in a statement. “I’m equally as excited that so many Melbourne artists have also achieved success both nationally and internationally, many of whom you will see represented in this exhibition at RMIT Gallery.”
“Melbourne is certainly one of the greatest cities in the world to enjoy music and this exhibition is a great way to celebrate the past and preview the future.”
‘Music, Melbourne and Me: 40 Years of Mushroom and Melbourne’s Popular Music Culture’ will be on from 19 November 2013 to 3 March 2014 at the RMIT Gallery in Swanston Street, Melbourne.
