Michael Spiby will perform some rare live shows in early 2015 featuring his entire Badloves classic album ‘Get On Board’ from start to finish.
Spiby, together with The Badloves keyboard player Tony Featherstone, will play their first ‘Get On Board’ show in Melbourne on March 21 and have also now announced shows for Sydney and the Central Coast of New South Wales in April.
The Badloves formed in Melbourne in 1990. Tony Featherstone joined in 1993 bringing the signature Hammond organ sound into the band.
The band signed to Mushroom Records and released the single ‘Lost’ in March ’93. The debut album ‘Get On Board’ followed in August and featured ‘Lost’ as well as the hits ‘I Remember’, ‘Green Limousine’ and ‘Memphis’.
By December The Badloves had won two Australian Music Awards for the Best Debut Single ‘Lost’ and Best New Band.
‘Get On Board’ reached no 5 on the Australia chart and sold over 200,000 copies. In 1994 it was nominated for and won three ARIA Awards for Best Debut Album, Best Debut Single and Best New Talent of 1994.
The Badloves broke up in 1997 but regrouped for the Mushroom Records 25th Anniversary Concert in 1998. The band did reform again in 2008 and planned to release a third album. That didn’t happen and by July 2010 they were no more again.
