Clubs around the western and central U.S. were quick to react to Michelle Shocked’s anti-gay tirade at Sunday night’s show at Yoshi’s in San Francisco. Of the eleven future dates on her schedule, ten have been cancelled by the venue.

Meander’s Kitchen in Seattle, WA explained their choice on their Facebook page, saying:

Hiya, folks. Meander’s Kitchen will not be hosting Michelle Shocked for her April 26th performance in Seattle due to her homophobic performance in San Francisco last night, during which she actually said “God Hates Fags”. I’ll post more about this later. But no. Just, no.

The Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland, OR announced that they would be replacing Shocked’s date with a benefit for Basic Rights Oregon.

We are deeply saddened by today’s news regarding Michelle Shocked, but our decision to cancel her show was an easy one to make. We are in the planning stages of turning this unfortunate situation into something useful and positive for our community. Please stay tuned for a special benefit concert for Basic Rights Oregon on April 25th at The Alberta Rose Theatre.

Hopmonk Tavern in Novato, CA said “Due to comments made by Michelle Shocked at Yoshi’s SF last night, we have decided to cancel our show with Michelle on Friday, 3/29.” A similar statements were made by the Palms Playhouse in Winter, CA.

McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, CA did not post a reason, simply saying that people holding tickets would get their money back.

The only date that remains on is at the Harmony Bar in Madison, WI.

The cancelled dates:
03/23 – Santa Monica, CA – McCabe’s
03/28 – Santa Cruz, CA – Moe’s Alley
03/29 – Novato, CA – HopMonk
04/24 – Winter, CA – the Palms Playhouse
