Mick Jagger has cast Chadwick Boseman in the lead role of James Brown in the biopic he is making about the Godfather of Soul.
The 31-year old actor has had roles in ‘Law and Order’, ‘CSI: NY’, “All My Children’, ‘Cold Case’, ‘Fringe’ and ‘ER’.
His movie credits include ‘42’ and ‘The Express’.
“So glad the Jagged Films/ Imagine biopic of James Brown GET ON UP is going to be shooting this October, starring Chad Boseman,” Jagger announced via Facebook. “I’m excited there is going to be so much great music in this film, as well as a dramatic story”.
Jagger has fired Tate Taylor to direct the movie. Taylor’s previous production credits include ‘The Help’ (2011). He has also acted in ‘Six Feet Under’, ‘Planet of the Apes’, ‘I Spy’ and ‘Queer As Folk’.
Jagger is expected to play a part in the movie as is Keith Richards. Little Richard has also been cast in a role but it is not clear at this stage if he will play himself.
‘Get On Up’ will premiere in 2014.
