Fans of David Bowie rejoice! Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, a new documentary from producer/director Jon Brewer, is coming to the big screen for a limited run in various cities throughout the U.S. A DVD and Blu-ray will be available on October 27.

The film examines the life and work of guitarist Mick Ronson, best known As Bowie’s sidekick in the Spiders From Mars, the band that backed the Ziggy Stardust singer in the early 70s. Ronson went on to collaborate with Bob Dylan, Ian Hunter, Lulu, Lou Reed, Morrissey and John Mellencamp. In 1993, while working on a solo album, Ronson passed away before receiving the recognition he so richly deserved.

With exclusive voice-over contributions from David Bowie, Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story features archival backstage footage, much of it never seen, along with photos from photographer Mick Rock.

“Both Mick Ronson and David Bowie together were the ultimate duo,” Brewer says, “They performed and recorded like magicians and created masterpieces that will live on forever.”
