Midnight Oil Play First Official Show Of World Tour In Sydney

in News

Midnight Oil have performed the first official and full show of their reunion tour The Great Circle 2017 with a crack setlist featuring some of their best songs and some of their rarest.

The surprise was the cluster of seven songs from the second album ‘Head Injuries’. ‘Profiteers’ had not been performed since 1993 and then only a dozen times prior to that, mainly in 1980 when the album was first released.

‘Is It Now’ was played once each in 1997 and 1998 and then only 18 times prior to that, again mainly in 1980 and 1981.

‘Shakers and Movers’ from Blues Sky Mining’ was played live for the ninth time ever and only the fourth time ever in Australia. Australian audience in Melbourne (1990), Sydney (1997) and Wollongong 2005) have been the only fans privy to the song live until this Selinas show.

The Midnight Oil setlist shows the band is match ready to take on the world. This is an amazing setlist. Fans will not walk away from this tour disappointed if this is the calibre of the show.
