Katy Perry should keeping roaring at No.1 this week in Australia, keeping Miley Cyrus at bay in the No.2 spot with her “Wrecking Ball”.
X-Factor guest act Capital Cities could see their former No.78 single “Safe and Sound” return to the Top 100 somewhere within the Top 10 this week after their performance on Tuesday night, and another guest on the show was Karmin, who could see “Acapella” rise back up into the Top 10 too. Refoo, John Newman, OneRepublic and Jason DeRulo should also retain their status within the ten, and we could possibly see a second Katy Perry debut this week, as it looks like “Dark Horse” (featuring Juicy J) could land in the lower ten.
HAIM with “The Wire” (TW-21) should climb into the Top 15, and after an A.G.T. performance, “Classic” for MKTO could stay stable at No.15. X-Factor act Joelle could see her version of the Concrete Blonde track “Joey” (HP-2, Sept 1990) debut high and possibly return the original to the charts too. Whilst Taylor Henderson’s version of the Cold Chisel song “Choir Girl” could result in a Top 30 debut for him.
Lorde should retain her three entries within the Top 30 this week and debuting within the thirty could be Birdy with her new song “Wings”, whilst Ylvis with “The Fox” (TW-84) should jump into the Top 40. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis could also gain a Top 40 placing for “White Walls”, whilst the ‘Winners & Losers’ finale this week could see the return to the charts for 1927’s “If I Could” (HP-4, Dec 1988). Jason DeRulo could land a Top 50 debut with “Marry Me” and after Jai’s X-F performance, Train could return to the charts with their single “Drops of Jupiter” (HP-5, Sept 2001), Jai’s version could debut within the Top 70.
Lower 50: Dami Im performed The Foo Fighters song “Best of You” this past week and her version could debut within the Top 60, whilst we could see Linkin Park and Steve Aoki track “A Light That Never Comes” also land within the sixty. Cher was on ‘Sunday Night’ (Channel 7) talking about her new album “Closer to the Truth”, with the lead single “Woman’s World” is set for a Top 70 entry, whilst her two No.1 hits here “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Believe” could gain lower Top 100 returns. And finally, Ellie Goulding has done the theme for the new Rachel McAdams film ‘About Time”, the track is entitled “How Long Will I Love You” and it could debut inside the Top 80.
Albums:
The sixth album for Kings of Leon “Mechanical Bull” and the third album for Drake “Nothing Was the Same” are vying for the top of the Australian charts this week, pushing Keith Urban, Avicii and Jack Johnson’s top three debuts from this week downwards, but not necessarily out of the Top 10.
Cher could also land a Top 10 debut with her 25th studio album (and first in twelve years) “Closer to the Truth”, plus the second album for Jessie J “Alive” and the third set for Jason DeRulo “Tattoos” could give Australia a very busy week of high-end debuts this week.
The Bloody Beetroots second album “Hide” could land within the Top 20, as too the debut album for Chvrches “The Bones of What You Believe”. The new album for Eskimo Joe entitled “Wastelands” and Alan Jackson’s “The Bluegrass Album” look set for top thirty or higher entries, and with One Direction and Rihanna kicking off their national tour this past week, their current albums all look set to jump up the charts.
Further new entries could come from Metallica with “Through the Never”, GroupLove and their new set “Spreading Rumours”, the tribute album “Crucible – The Songs of Hunters & Collectors”, Krewella with “Get Wet”, the new self-titled album for Dream Theater, Chris Young and his album “A.M.”, the second album for local singer Adalita entitled “All Day Venus”, the return of Mazzy Star with their fourth album (and first since 1996) “Seasons of Your Day” and Icona Pop could debut with their set “This is… Icona Pop”.
