Sam Smith ‘In The Lonely Hour’ is the only challenger to Coldplay ‘Ghost Stories’ for the next chart, Justice Crew set for fourth week with no. 1 single.
There seems to be no budging “Que Sera” for Justice Crew from the top of the sales charts in Australia, as they are set for a fourth consecutive week at No.1 this coming weekend.
Milky Chance should hold their No.2 position with “Stolen Dance” where it leapt to this past week, whilst another European act in the form of the duo Nico & Vinz with “Am I Wrong” (TW-11) could leap into either the top three or five on the next ARIA Singles chart. Sia jumped back up to No.5 this week with “Chandelier”, which should maintain that position this week, whilst Mr. Probz and “Waves” (TW-8) could climb higher. Maintaining their Top 10 status this week should be Zhu, Ariana Grande, Sheppard and Iggy Azalea, whilst X-Factor 2013 winner Dami Im could see her new single “Super Love” (NEW TW-25) jump up into the Top 10, helped by her ‘Sunday Night’ piece, screened this past weekend.
Much of the Top 20 should remain stable, but it looks like Tove Lo could jump into the lower end of the twenty with “Stay High” (TW-29), whilst there could also be a debut in the same region for the Emeli Sande track “Clown” after its use in ‘The Voice: Battle Rounds’ this past week. Possibly debuting just outside the twenty could be another former UK No.1 single, “Nobody to Love” by Sigma, which samples a line from the Kanye West song ‘Bound 2’, whilst the first taste from the August 1st due self-titled album for Angus & Julia Stone is “Heart Beats Slow”, which could enter within the same chart region.
“Tightrope” (TW-27) for Illy should continue to climb as too “Hideaway” for Kiesza (TW-35), whilst we should see a blast back up the charts for “Strong” (TW-87) by London Grammar, “Demons” (TW-79) by Imagine Dragons, “Young & Beautiful” (TW-73) for Lana Del Rey and “Hey Brother” (TW-76) for Avicii after they were all sung on ‘The Voice’ too. And Lana could debut within the Top 40 with another new track from her forthcoming ‘Ultraviolence’ album “Shades of Cool”.
Tiesto dropped out of the Top 100 from #51 last week with his new track “Wasted” featuring Matthew Koma, and now this week it could re-enter within the lower end of the Top 50, the same chart area that the new Nicki Minaj track “Pills N’ Potions” could debut within. Just outside the Top 50 we could see the new Beyonce track “Pretty Hurts” debut and from their “Calm Down” EP Alison Wonderland could enter within the Top 60 with “I Want U”.
One Direction could see their new single “You & I” enter within the higher end of the Top 60, although the multi-track EP is selling more so it might chart higher, although within the same area we could see Nero debut with their new dance track “Satisfy”. Austin Mahone could re-enter with “MMM Yeah” featuring Pitbull and further ‘Voice: Battles’ re-entries could come from the coaches doing a rendition of the Havana Brown song “Warrior”, Miley Cyrus with “The Climb” and Radiohead with “High and Dry”. There are also possible entries for deadmau5 feat Colleen D’Agostino with “seeya” and after performing her new single on ‘RockWiz’ Monday night, Megan Washington might sneak into the lower end of the charts with “Limitless”.
Albums: Coldplay landed at No.1 on the ARIA Albums chart this past week with their fifth #1, “Ghost Stories”, and it also became the biggest first-week-sales for 2014, so this week we should see the album hold for a second week, and if it does so, it’ll become only the second Coldplay album to notch up multiple weeks at No.1, with the only other one being 2008’s “Viva La Vida” which stayed atop for four straight weeks.
The closest competition at the moment is the debut album for Sam Smith entitled “In the Lonely Hour” which could come in at No.2 this coming weekend, whilst we could also see another Top 10 entry in the form of the new Mariah Carey album “Me, I am Mariah… the Elusive Chanteuse”, which if it does debut within the ten will become her first Top 10 appearance since “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” (HP-6, Oct 2009).
Retaining their Top 10 status should be the ‘Frozen’ Soundtrack, ZHU with his “NightDay” EP, Michael Jackson, current tourists Rufus and Chet Faker, whilst Iggy Azalea could climb back into the ten with “The New Classic” (TW-12). Debuting within the Top 20 could be the teaming between Royksopp and Robyn on the album “Do it Again” and maybe even the soundtrack to the new film “The Fault in Our Stars”.
James Vincent McMorrow is touring Australia at the moment, and his two albums could return this week, with the January 2014 released “Post Tropical” (HP-25) set for a return within the same region of its peak, and his first album “Early in the Morning” (HP-94) coming back within the Top 80. Cher Lloyd’s second album “Sorry I’m Late” could enter within the Top 30 and there could be a return within the same area for Emeli Sande’s “Our Version of Events” thanks to ‘Clown’ charting, and local singer Kim Churchill could enter with his set “Silence / Win”.
2012 The Voice contestant Brittany Cairns could enter the Top 50 with her EP “Tales of the Desert” and further entries in the lower fifty could come from Afrojack with “Forget the World” (Top 60), REMI with “Raw x Infinity”, The Roots with “…and then you Shoot your Cousin” (both Top 70), Wolf Alice with their EP “Creature Songs”, the soundtrack for the new film “Chef” and another EP, this one from Against the Current entitled “Infinity” (all Top 80). There could also be entries from Crowder with “Neon Steeple”, Austin Mahone with his debut album “The Secret”, This Wild Life with “Clouded”, Brantley Gilbert with “Just As I Am” and Tove Lo with her “Truth Serum (EP)”.
