Miguel has reportedly been charged with two counts of drunk driving.
The musician, best known for his track #Beautiful with Mariah Carey, was arrested in Los Angeles on August 15. He was initially stopped because the tint of his BMW X6 windows was deemed too dark by cops. After he was pulled over, police apparently suspected he had consumed alcohol.
According to TMZ, the 27-year-old has now been charged over the incident and will face court next week.
Miguel is said to have failed sobriety tests when he was stopped and his blood alcohol measured .10 and .11, which exceeds the .08 blood alcohol legal limit in the state of California.
He was taken into custody and eventually released on $5,000 bail.
It’s been a difficult year for the star, despite his smash hit track with Mariah.
An audience member at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards was considering whether to sue him after he accidentally leaped onto her head.
He inadvertently struck the woman named Shah with his right thigh and it allegedly cracked her skull against the stage in Las Vegas.
The woman’s attorney, Vip Bhola, told E! News his client has been having ‘difficulties’ determining whether to take further action pending further medical tests.
