The position of touring guitarist with the Cult has been a ping-pong match between Mike Dimkich and James Stevenson for two decades and recently there was another volley.
Dimkich has left the group to tour with Bad Religion while Greg Heston deals with “personal issues” so, as he did once before, Stevenson has stepped into the role. Dimkich had the role in 1993, Stevenson from 1994 to 1995 when the group broke up and Dimkich returned in 1999 when they reformed.
The Cult will be performing their Electric album in its entirety on the upcoming tour and, according to Billy Duffy, “Electric is very much a two-guitar album. So with Mike moving on, we’ve decided to welcome James back into the fold. As a Cult alumnus he was the obvious choice.”
The released Electric Peace yesterday which includes the original Electric album and the never released followup, Peace.
