Mike Love was the honoree at the 21st Ella Awards put on by the Society of Singers.
Performers and presenters for the evening included Al Jardine, David Marks and Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys, Carnie and Wendy Wilson, Bill Medley, Dean Torrence, Micky Dolenz, Christopher Cross and America. Among the performances was Rita Wilson doing Warmth of the Sun, Lucy Lawless performing Wouldn’t It Be Nice and the California Saga, a group made up of the children of Love, Jardine, Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson and Carl Wilson.
Love brought another honoree for the evening, The Waters Family who received The Voice Award, to sing a new composition, Unleash the Love.
In another highlight, Love and David Lee Roth sang California Girls, a hit for both the Beach Boys and Roth.
Actor and occassional Beach Boy John Stamos hosted the evening which also saw Nigel Lythgoe receive the Leadership Award.
