Mike Peters, formerly of The Alarm, is heading to Australia for dates in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth in December.

Mike is coming to Australia to speak at the 2014 World Cancer Congress in Melbourne and will perform the three shows while he is in the country. It will be his first-ever Australian tour.

Mike Peters formed The Alarm in Wales in 1981. The band scored a number of chart hits in the UK in the 80s including ’68 Guns’ (no 17, 1983), ‘Where We You Hiding When The Storm Broke’ (no 22, 1983), ‘Absolute Reality’ (no 35, 1985), ‘Strength’ (no 40, 1985), ‘Rain in the Summertime’ (no 18, 1987), ‘A New South Wales’ (no 31, 1989).

More recently The Alarm reached no 28 in 1991 with ’45 R.P.M.’ and no 24 in 2006 with ‘Superchannel’.

Peters’ was diagnosed in the early 90’s with his first battle with cancer (Non Hodgkins Lymphoma) and rejecting conventional treatment, Mike
Peters went to see a faith healer instead, and continued to tour extensively in the UK, Europe and USA. Upon being told that ‘green’ was a powerful colour in his life, Mike Peters wore green combat fatigues every day until he eventually went into spontaneous remission.

Mike Peters Australian tour dates

December 4, Sydney, The Basement
December 5, Melbourne, Northcote Social Club
December 7, Perth, Cab Bar @ Rosey O’Gradys

The Libertines by Mary Boukouvalas
The Libertines, Reverend and the Makers, The Forum, Tuesday 15th April, 2025

In 2004, The Libertines toured Australia for the first time, without Pete Doherty, due to his drug addictions. When the rest of the band toured Japan, feeling betrayed he burgled Carl Barat’s flat and was jailed for six months. Since then, Doherty has toured with the band notably in 2018, where they also played the Forum and, on this sold-out show, clearly devoid of drugs and shenanigans of the past, the two albeit more mature founding members Doherty and Barat have well and truly buried the hatchet.
