Singer/songwrtiter Mimi Velevska will launch her ‘I’m Yours’ video at The Workers Club in Melbourne this week.
Mimi takes her influences from Anthony Keidis, Slash and Tina Turner and can see her sound as a superhero mix of those acts. “The combination of the elements musically and stylistically, personality wise, what I can bring to the stage, that’s the superhero combination,” she tells Noise11.com.
I started off as more a jazz singer, a soul singer. Aretha Franklin was a big influence in my life but Tina brings more of a live stage show. Earlier in my career I would have just been a singer but now I see it as the whole 360 performance. Not just the singing.
Mimi’s new song is ‘I’m Yours’ and the launch at the Workers Club in Fitzroy is for the video. Chk Chk Boom will also play that night.
Mimi also has shows in October at the Vic Roller Derby on October 13 and Hi-Fi Bar on October 27.
