At a vigil last night for Suicide Silence frontman Mitch Lucker, who died early on November 1st from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident, his wife Jolie Carmadella spoke of his alcohol addiction and pleaded with the crowd that had gathered to farewell him to learn from his tragic passing.
“He’s an alcoholic, and it’s a been a big battle. And I tried to stop him. I was in front of him begging him not to leave the house. Begging him. Like, ‘Just seriously, for us, don’t leave.’ And he did. And this is what happened. I mean, It’s a wake-up call. He’s an amazing man. He’s a wonderful father and a great husband. And now he’s gonna miss out on watching [his five-year-old daughter] Kena grow, because he decided to drink and ride. Just don’t. Just think before you guys do something stupid. Please learn from this. Please.”
The band yesterday posted the sad news on their Facebook page, letting over 2 million of their fans know of the loss of their much loved frontman.
There’s no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts.
