Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch has quashed plans for a biopic by refusing to authorise her music.
NME reports that Mitch told The Daily Mail he will never allow a filmmaker to use her songs for a biopic.
Her former boyfriend Reg Traviss had been approached to take part in a possible biopic of the tragic star, but he reneged, saying he was “too close” to the story.
Mitch Winehouse, owns the copyright to her songs, then said the idea is doomed from the start: “It would hardly be a biopic without the music and we’d never allow the songs to be released”.
Mitch said he would’ve never allowed the songs on the posthumous Lioness: Hidden Treasures to be released unless it was up to scratch.
“The family view was nothing was going to go out unless it was comparable to Frank or Back To Black. If it wasn’t as good as that then we wouldn’t have allowed it to go out.”
Mitch has also announced that he’s signed a deal with HarperCollins to publish a memoir, but reasserted that any profits will go to the anti-drug and alcohol youth foundation he set up in Amy’s name.
