Doctor’s have Ian Molly Meldrum in a critical but stable condition after the music guru fell from a ladder at his Richmond home yesterday (December, 15, 2011)
The next 24 hours will be critical for Molly who underwent emergency surgery last night and was still in a coma this morning.
Doctors at The Alfred have confirmed “he got through the night which is a positive” but that “he is fighting for his life”.
Molly’s condition was worse than originally thought. It is now known he was in a coma from the fall, not an induced coma as first reported.
Paramedics arrived at Meldrum’s Richmond residence at around 6.40pm after being called by his gardener who arrived at the house and found Molly unconscious. It is believed that Molly fell sometime between 5 and 6pm.
Molly was taken to The Alfred Hospital where doctors operated to relieve swelling on the brain. He is also believed to be suffering from a collapsed lung and broken ribs.
