Molly Meldrum has written a letter about the circumstances around his crippling December fall, and the avalanche of support he received .
He wrote a letter which has been published in Melbourne newspaper the Herald-Sun.
Meldrum writes, “I can’t say my life flashed before my eyes, but I have had plenty of time to reflect in the past few weeks, and I realise just how lucky I am,”
He praised the longtime friend Joe, who found him, as well as the efforts of his PA Yael Cohn, and revealed that he received calls from Prime Minister Gillard and Elton John.
He recalls “‘What happened, dear?’ Elton asked. ‘We were together at my concert in Melbourne and then I hear you’re in a critical condition. Are you okay?’”
Molly thanks the thousands of well-wishers, saying he couldn’t reply to everyone because “I’d never get my book finished!”
His first televised interview since his accident was with Jennifer Keyte, and will air this Wednesday on Channel Seven’s Today Tonight.
