Tomorrow morning (December 21) you are invited to text your message of support to Ian Molly Meldrum and the messages will be displayed on the big screen at Federation Square.
Molly fans can start sending their words of hope through to 0428 520347 between 9am and 12:30pm and the messages will start to be displayed in the screen at Federation Square from 11am and then sent to The Alfred Hospital where Molly is undergoing treatment.
This morning Ian was awoken from the coma he had been in for the past five nights so that doctors could run some tests. Molly’s manager Mark Klemens called the tests “small steps” and Molly’s brother Brian said they are all “cautiously optimistic”.
Plans are now being made for the series of operations the beloved Melbourne personality will need to undergo to get on his road to recovery. The swelling in the brain has subsided a bit but Molly is still listed as critical but stable.
He will need an operation of a broken should and ribs soon, as well as treatment fro a fractured skull and broken vertebrae.
Molly fell off a ladder while hanging Christmas decorations at his Richmond home last Thursday just after 6pm.
Supporters worldwide including Madonna, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Pink, Ricky Martin and Kylie Minogue as well as the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard have sent their thoughts to Molly.
After yesterday those close to him were feeling a lot more positive but there is a long way to go.
Molly is expected to be in hospital into early New Year at this stage.
