Molly Ringwald will move from the big screen to the concert stage when she performs at the Melbourne Recital Centre later this month.
The star of the iconic John Hughes movies ‘Sixteen Candles’, ‘The Breakfast Club’ and ‘Pretty In Pink’ is heading to the Australia to perform songs from her debut album ‘Except Sometimes’.
‘Except Sometimes’ is a jazz album. She grew up in a house of jazz. Her father, Bob Ringwald, is a jazz pianist. “Beginning at around age three I started singing with his band and jazz music has continued to be one of my three passions along with acting and writing. I like to say jazz music is my musical equivalent of comfort food. It’s always where I go back to when I want to feel grounded,” Molly said.
The ‘Except Sometimes’ album includes a cover of the Simple Minds hit ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ originally from her movie ‘Pretty In Pink’.
Molly Ringwald will perform in Elizabeth Murdoch Hall of the Melbourne Recital Centre on June 21.
