John Lodge wrote a New Year’s letter to fans on the Moody Blues website with just a small bit of information on his upcoming solo project along with other news.
It has taken Lodge two years but he finally finished his album 10,000 Light Years Ago in December at the Mix Factory in Florida and is planning a pre-launch in April. An exact date for release was not included in the note.
In addition, Lodge indicates that there will be more Moody Blues touring throughout the year, mentioning that his pre-release is coming between tours. He has also recorded a track for an upcoming Gene Vincent tribute album.
The full announcement:
“Wow,what a year 2014 has been. Great Moody Blues concerts across America, I re released Natural Avenue in180 gramme Vinyl, I have recorded songs for the new Gene Vincent – Singer Album , a tribute to the Rebel in Leather which will be released early 2015 and in December.., after two years of writing and making demos I finished recording my new album at the The Mix Factory Studios in Florida. The title of the Album is 10,000 Light Years Ago and it will have a pre launch in April in New York, in between Moodies Tours. We are mixing the Album right now and I am really excited I can’t wait for the album to be out there… The vibe for me is like recording one of the first 7 albums ..and with Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder joining me on a song, it’s very special. I wish everyone a wonderful peaceful and Happy 2015.. See you on the road and as ever thank You for Keeping the Faith.”
Love
John
A separate letter from Justin Hayward indicates that he will be going out for a solo tour of the U.K. in July:
Most of all I’m looking forward to my own solo tour of the UK in July with Mike and Julie. My ‘recording’ acoustic guitars are getting to like life out on the road, and our guitar tech David as well as FOH Steve (who is English but has lived in the USA for many years) are ready to make some magic with us.
