Motley Crue has a brand new script for their biopic The Dirt and it looks like filming is a go.
The biopic of Motley Crue, based on the book of the same name, has been in development for awhile but was recently held up when one of the original drafts of the script proved to be not acceptable. Vocalist Vince Neil recently told Las Vegas Magazine that the new version should work out well.
…we just got a new script about three or four months ago, the rewrite of the old script, and it’s way, way better. It’s such a great script. This movie should be out in the summer of 2016. It does stay pretty close to The Dirt, so if you’ve read The Dirt it’s really something to look forward to.
Neil also talked about how strange it was to watch an actor portraying him.
That’s gonna be strange. It’s funny, I saw the table read of the last script.
They have these different actors playing each person, and even just the table read of the script was weird when the Vince guy was talking (laughs). It wasn’t the guy that’s gonna play me, but it was just kind of weird hearing somebody say your words. It’s a bit of a trip.
The Dirt, which was published in 2002, told the story of Motley Crue from their earliest days living in a roach infested apartment through their ascension to a superstar band. All four members of the band, Neil, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars and Nikky Sixx, contributed to the book which spent ten weeks in the New York Times top ten.
