Motorhead Cut Short Show When Lemmy Has Breathing Issue

Motorhead should be riding high on the charts next week with their new album, Bad Magic, if their sales on Amazon are any indication, but their tour stop in Grand Rapids, MI was cut short when guitarist Lemmy had trouble breathing.

The announcement was made just four songs into their set with the band later issuing a statement on Facebook:

The people are great, but the air is just too thin. The high altitude makes it difficult for breathing, and that’s what happened with Lemmy tonight in Salt Lake City. He feels very bad to have cut the show short, but being that high up, he had some trouble breathing well. Lemmy appreciates everyone’s concern. The fans always rally round!

While the band may be blaming Salt Lake City’s altitude, Classic Rock is reporting that fans who saw the band’s show last Saturday in Los Angeles also reported that Lemmy was unsteady on his feet.

The guitarist has been having medical issues for over two years. In early 2013, he had a defibulator implanted to help keep his heart in rhythm and, in June of that year, suffered a hematoma which led to the first of many cancelled shows. Their August 2013 show at the Wacken Festival after six songs and the rest of their dates for the year were called off. Then, in February 2014, they cancelled their European tour because of further health problems. In April of this year, they pulled out of the Monsters of Rock Festival in Brazil after Kilmister suffered from food poisoning.
