Mumford and Sons fans can expect some new material in the near future if the band’s Ben Lovett is to be believed.
In an interview with MTV, Lovett said “We are in the final stages [of recording the second album]. We’re not finished, we don’t quite know the exact track listing. We have kind of road-tested some songs, and we have picked up some new songs and dropped some ones that people might have thought we were going to be putting on the record. We just want to make a record that’s cohesive and one that we feel represents us best right now.”
He went on to say that they’re being “urgent” with the album.
Mumford and Sons released their debut album Sigh No More in 2009. Since then their career skyrocketed with the record spending over a year on the UK chart and winning the Album of the Year Award at the BRITs in 2011. The album was also shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize.
