‘Doom folk’. It’s not the title of the new Mumford & Sons album, it’s the genre.

The London folk superstars have been working on the follow-up to their surprise smash 2009 hit debut Sigh No More, which went Platinum in the US, double-Platinum in Canada, triple-Platinum in Australia,, quadruple-Platinum in the UK.
They recently snared Grammy nominations and are playing the radio festival circuit in the US, where they spoke to Rolling Stone about what that album may comprise.
Bassist Ted Dwayne said that the album is almost finished, revealing, “The second record is just a reflection of our mindsets, where we’re all at. It’s doom folk, kind of like Black Sabbath meets Nick Drake”.
Keyboardish Ben Lovett said “It’s not like we are just listening to one style from one era. It’s finding the songs that really speak to us and then we discuss them, we share those songs around”.
There is yet to be a title or a release date nailed down for the album, which was written in Nashville and the UK.
