50 Cent is developing a new TV comedy loosely based on what life is like as a member of his entourage.
Fiddy has teamed up with producer Will Packer to executive produce a show entitled My Friend 50 for America’s Fox network.
According to Deadline, the series will centre on twenty-something Amanda Kramer, who “believes that joining 50 Cent’s entourage is the answer to all her problems.”
In addition to producing the show, 50 Cent is slated to have a recurring role as a version of himself.
The hip-hop legend has already had a successful run on the small screen with his breakout drama series Power, which he also executive produces and co-stars in.
This year (15), he has also starred in hit boxing movie Southpaw alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams, and 50 is keen to keep honing his acting talents.
“When you’re conditioned for one art form, you really learn to appreciate the other,” he told the New York Times recently. “You can watch a performance and think, ‘Wow, that was an interesting artistic choice. I wonder if I can do that.’”
The star was first inspired to act after watching fellow rapper Eminem in his autobiographical film, 8 Mile, in 2002.
More recently, he has realised television can be a great tool for sharing music too.
“The business climate for music has changed,” he added. “It’s not just the economics of music, but how music gets sold. Television is so important to that now. That’s where you hear something and you say, ‘Who is that’’ ”
