Adele ‘25’ is still selling in outstanding numbers with the title last week alone counting for 10% of all album sales in the Top 100.
In its seventh week on the chart Adele’s ‘25’ sold 14,183 copies in Australia, almost double that of no 2 ‘Purpose’ by Justin Bieber with 7,618 sales and almost 10% of the entire Top 500 sales for the week (147,719).
‘25’ has now sold 447,468 copies in Australia and has been certified 7x Platinum. By comparison, Bieber’s ‘Purpose’, now out eight weeks is still at 1x Platinum. Coldplay ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’, five weeks on the chart, is certified 1x Gold.
Rachel Platten ‘Wildfire’ was the only album debut in the Australian chart this week. The next chart could see Adele dethroned by David Bowie ‘Blackstar’. ‘Blackstar’, released on January 8, 2016, is the first major release of 2016.
