Andrew Stockdale will attempt to resurrect the Wolfmother brand with a new album ‘Victorious’ in February.
Stockdale has struggled to maintain momentum of Wolfmother after attempting to continue the Wolfmother name on his own after the break-up of the original band featuring Chris Ross and Myles Heskett.
While a second album ‘Cosmic Egg’ reached no 3 in Australia and no 16 in the USA off the back of the initial reputation, a third album ‘Keep Moving’ released under Stockdale’s name was quickly followed up with another Wolfmother album ‘New Crown’, made available through Bandcamp.
‘Victorious’ will mark a return to a major label with a release through Universal scheduled for February 16.
‘Victorious’ was recorded at the Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood under the guidance of producer Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen).
Drums for ‘Victorious’ are handled by Josh Freese (Devo, Rob Zombie, Guns N Roses, The Vandals, Springsteen, Slash) with Joey Waronker. Faithful companion Ian Peres plays keyboards instead of bass on ‘Victorious’. Stockdale does all guitar and vocal parts for the record.
