This is the second year for the BBC Music Awards which honors both British and International artists in just five categories.
Nominees in three of those categories were announced on Tuesday with the veteran artists Foo Fighters and Prince getting nods in the International Artist of the Year category. Jeff Lynne’s ELO and Lionel Richie picked up additional nominations for BBC Live Performance of the Year.
The awards will be presented on Thursday, December 10 from Birmingham’s Genting Arena and will be broadcast on BBC One, Radio One, Radio Two and online. Performers include veterans Faithless, Rod Stewart and Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott along with Ellie Goulding, Hozier, James Bay, Jess Glynne, Little Mix, Mumford and Sons, OMI, One Direction and the Shires.
Two other categories, both fan voted, will be announced closer to the show with the Song of the Year voting opening on December 9 along with the BBC Introducing aritst.
