Bruce Springsteen Performs ‘Rebel Rebel’ For Bowie

Bruce Springsteen has paid tribute to David Bowie on the opening night of ‘The River’ tour in Pittsburgh.

While Springsteen is performing the entire ‘The River’ to mark the 40th anniversary of his classic album, he took time to remember David Bowie in the show as well.

Bruce told the audience, “I’m going to take a moment. This is about the passing of our good friend David Bowie. Not many people know that he supported our music way, way, way back in the very beginning. In 1973 he rang me up and I visited him down in Philly when he was making the ‘Young Americans’ record. He covered my music ‘Its Hard To Be A Saint In The City’ and ‘Growin’ Up’ and he was a big supporter of ours. I took the Greyhound bus down to Philadelphia. That’s how early it was. Anyway, we’re thinking of him”.
