It has been officially announced that Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band will perform the album The River in its entirety during all stops on their upcoming tour.
The news first broke yesterday in an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which was then confirmed by BruceSpringsteen.net:
All announced The River Tour 2016 shows will include an in-sequence, complete performance of The River album in addition to other Springsteen favorites. Tickets go on sale this Friday, December 11. See you on the road!
Springsteen’s fifth studio album and first double album, The River was released on October 17, 1980 and contained the first song by Bruce to hit the U.S. top ten, Hungry Heart. While that was the biggest hit, numerous tracks on the album went on to become concert staples for the band including Out in the Streets, Cadillac Ranch, Fade Away and the title song.
A multi-disc reissue of the album, The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, was released last Friday with the original set, the single album version, outtakes, a documentary and a full concert from the era.
