San Francisco’s The California Honeydrops gave Sydney something to remember this week when they took the show on the road … literally.
The band were booked at the Newtown Social Club but figured they could play to a bigger audience outside the venue so they did.
Mainman, guitarist and trumpeter Lech Wierzynkski took to the streets and leading the audience on a romp along King Street.
Promoter David Williams tells Noise11.com that “Passerbys were initial confused, then bemused and then joined in the dancing. The band’s manager was kept busy keeping California Honeydrops main-main Lech from becoming over exuberant and straying into the traffic”.
As Williams says, “an amazing band – these guys have GOT to be experienced”.
The California Honeydrops would have been quite at home on the streets. Wierzynkski and drummer Ben Malament started busking in an Oakland BART station.
The California Honeydrops will perform this weekend at the Queenscliff Music Festival.
