Hot on the heels of the announcement that Cheap Trick has been elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the band and Big Machine Records have said that they have entered an agreement to release the album Bang Zoom Crazy … Hello.
To hit the market on April 1, just one week before their official induction into the Hall, the new album will mark the band’s seventeenth studio set and their first in five years.
Cheap Trick continues to thrill audiences including a co-headlining tour this past summer with Peter Frampton. Their signing with Big Machine puts them in the company of such artists as Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Steven Tyler.
Scott Borchetta, Big Machine Group President and CEO, said “Coinciding with their entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I am beyond proud and excited to announce that Cheap Trick are the newest members of the Big Machine Records family. As a band, they’ve never stopped rock’n the free world and they play every night with as much conviction as their first power-pop-punk club shows from the mid ’70’s. I can’t wait for Cheap Trick fans everywhere to have the new album.”
Cheap Trick guitarist Tom Petersson on their electing to the Hall of Fame: “We can’t thank the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame enough for honoring Cheap Trick. Thanks to all the fans who have supported us for all these years and to the Hall of Fame members who cast their votes. We are excited.”
The band also plans a major North American tour for 2016 in support of the new album.
