Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow seem to have managed Hollywood’s friendliest breakup, as they reportedly grow even closer.
Martin and Paltrow had been married for 10 years when they decided to split in March 2014. Their children Apple, 11 and Moses, nine, ensured the pair have stayed on friendly terms, but sources say now they both feel settled with new partners, they’re back to being best friends.
“Chris and Gwyneth are getting on like a house on fire but it has raised issues,” an insider told Britain’s Grazia magazine. “In the early days of the split it wasn’t all roses and chocolates. In fact, throughout the Jennifer Lawrence saga it seemed Gwyneth didn’t view it as an ‘appropriate arrangement’. To say things are different now would be a huge understatement. They’re both settled with their new partners, and that’s given them the chance to repair their relationship.”
Gwyneth is dating producer Brad Falchuk while Chris is loved up with Peaky Blinders actress Annabelle Wallis. Friends say the situation is different now compared to when Chris was dating Hunger Games mega star Jennifer, because their new partners are secure enough to cope with Gwyneth and Chris’ lifelong commitment to each other.
“They’re closer than before,” the source continued. “Even when they were loved up it was a sparky relationship because they’ve both got the same combination of naked ambition and an unrealistic romantic streak, which mix about as well as nitro-glycerine.
“Without the pressure of being love’s young dream they can get back to just having fun together like it was at the beginning. They’re doing stuff they barely did when they were married, like playing music. Gwyneth has written lyrics for Coldplay and even sings on the new album.”
