Collarts (the Australian College of the Arts) will open a campus in Brunswick St, Fitzroy.
“The space is custom built in a fantastic music-fuelled area,” notes Jesse Hooper, Collarts’ Program Leader for Music. “Not only do we have some of the best musicians and artists in the country working in our music program, but now we’ve got the very best facilities in which to both work and teach in.”
Designed by architect Louis De Silva alongside ultrafonic and acoustic consultant Andrew Steel, the new campus will offer students the rare opportunity to engage with state-of-the-art recording equipment and spaces all while in the imaginative atmosphere of a college environment.
“We’ve got a great selection of supreme quality instruments and amps for the students to use,” says Hooper. “The rooms are fitted-out with the leading names and brands in the industry, including the likes of Vox, Marshall, Fender and Mapex. The effort that has gone into the design and soundproofing has been very extensive. It’s been very tailor-made, fine-tuned and acoustically engineered.”
The new campus will open on May 30 at the start of the second trimester.
