Cyndi Lauper has covered Dolly Parton’s ‘Hard Candy Christmas’ as a Christmas treat for fans.
Dolly Parton originally recorded the Carol Hall penned song for ‘The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas’.
Lauper has had a few Christmas songs in the past including duets with Frank Sinatra ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ and The Hives ‘A Christmas Duel’. She released her Christmas album ‘Merry Christmas … Have A Nice Life’ in 1998.
‘Hard Candy Christmas’ is the first new music from Lauper this year but she has been working on her first album since 2010 for release in 2016. Cyndi is in the final stages of the country album ‘Detour’. The album will be her first for Sire Records and is being made in Nashville with Seymour Stein.
Cyndi has also written the music for the musical ‘Kinky Boots’. The show will premiere in Australia in Melbourne in February.
