David Bowie was given a ‘direct cremation’ following his death on Sunday and there will be no funeral or formal memorial.
According to London’s The Mirror “There is no public or private service or a public memorial. There is nothing.”
Bowie producer Tony Visconti said that David ‘Blackstar’ album was his farewell gift. “His death was no different from his life – a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift”.
While there is no formal family endorsed memorial for Bowie there will be various events worldwide to mark his passing. There will be a tribute to David Bowie at the BRIT Awards next month and a memorial concert has been planned in New York at Carnegie Hall on March 31 where both Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger will perform.
