Ed Sheeran, one of the biggest artists in the world, has broken chart history. His 15 million-selling, second studio album ‘x’ has had the longest reign in the UK Top 10 Official Albums Chart for a British artist, ever, where it has now remained for 73 consecutive weeks.
Ed commented: “2015 is definitely going to be one to remember. Wembley in the summer was such a big career highlight and now to hear that I’ve landed the longest run in the Top 10 for a British artist has really put the cherry on top. To all my brilliant fans – thank you!”
It was in July 2015 when the Suffolk-born 24-year-old took to the stage of Wembley Stadium, solo, which saw him play to over 240,000 people over three consecutive, sold-out nights. The shows received rave reviews across the board, firmly marking himself as Britain’s musical frontrunner. Today, Ed has released his very special Jumpers For Goalposts DVD, documenting breath-taking footage of his Wembley shows along with exclusive behind-the-scenes material. Compiled of two portions (CD/DVD & DVD), viewers will obtain a glimpse into life on the road with the global superstar and the combined CD/DVD will include five exclusive new tracks: ‘English Rose’, ‘Touch and Go’, ‘New York’, ‘Make It Rain’ and his Rudimental collaboration ‘Lay It All On Me’.
Last month also proved to be a monumental highlight for Ed. From hosting the MTV EMA Music Awards in Milan where he picked-up two awards for ‘Best Live’ and ‘Best World Stage’, to taking home ‘Best Solo Artist’ at the Q Awards, he also received an honorary degree from the University Campus Suffolk (UCS) in Ipswich for his outstanding contribution to music.
‘x’ was 2014’s biggest AND fastest-selling album. Globally, the LP has now sold over 15 million copies and received a staggering 59 platinum certifications.
