Rapper Iggy Azalea is blasting bosses at her record label for not allowing her to make a video for her new tune Azillion.
Iggy posted the track on online audio sharing platform Soundcloud earlier this month (Jan16) to create “buzz” for her new music, but the song is not performing as well as she had hoped and she is now feuding with bosses at her record label over the song’s lack of accompanying visuals.
“Bad news update:my record label Virgin/EMI seems to feel the response to my viral record “zillon” (sic) wasnt good enough & im not allowed a video,” she writes on Twitter.com.
“I felt like it was dope so, whatever,” she continues. “(President of Virgin EMI) ted cockle doesnt wanna see me shine. what can i say.”
“Anyhow i could say ALOT – but ill keep it mildly professional,” she adds. “Just wanted to let some of you guys asking know whats happening (sic).”
Iggy doesn’t seem to care about repercussions from her record label, revealing she has a plan to self-promote her new music if executives refuse to back her.
“If all else fails ill just drive around LA and play my new album really loudly every monday from 4-6pm hahaha,” she concludes.
Iggy was infamously embroiled in a number of Twitter feuds since 2014 after she was accused of appropriating Black American culture.
Fellow female emcee Azealia Banks claimed the Australian Fancy hitmaker was a complete rip-off. Then hip hop legend Q-Tip of Tribe Called Quest, who is considered royalty by many in the rap community, stepped into the matter by issuing a moving statement on the situation. Iggy brushed off Q-Tip’s poignant observations by tweeting she was unwilling to “play hip-hop squares with strangers to somehow prove I deserve to be a fan of or influenced by hip-hop”.
And after she made that statement to Q-Tip, T.I. decided to no longer defend her in public.
