Musical sales had purpose and direction last week when new titles from Justin Bieber and One Direction accounted for one third of the sales in the Top 500 albums.

The Bieber album was a strong digital seller with 73% of sales sold as downloads while the One Direction fan tended to go for the higher quality CD with 54% digital sales.
While the Bieber ‘Purpose’ album is the fastest selling album of 2015, Taylor Swift ‘1989’ did better in November 2014 with 43,428 sales.
Bieber’s reign with the fastest selling album of 2015 will be short-lived. Adele ‘25’ will easily sell more than Justin Bieber ‘25’ this week. The Adele album in on track to sell over 2,000,000 first week in the US. On a per capita basis, ‘25’ could do over 100,000 in Australia this week.
