Madonna is officially the highest grossing solo touring artist in history and third biggest of all-time.

Billboard started tracking touring data in 1990. The Rolling Stones and U2 are in first and second place with Madonna running third.

Madonna has just completed her ‘Rebel Heart’ tour, which kicked off on September 5, 2015 in Montreal and visited 55 cities on four continents over seven months. ‘Rebel Heart’ grossed $169.8 million in ticket sales with 1,045,479 tickets sold across the tour.

In total she has now grossed over $1.31 billion in ticket sales (since 1990).

Madonna performed 82 shows on the ‘Rebel Heart’ tour plus a one-off fan club show at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre.

The Rebel Heart Tour was directed by Jamie King with musical direction by Kevin Antunes (the band’s keyboardist Ric’key Pageot, drummer Brian Frasier-Moore, guitarist Monte Pittman, and background vocalists Kiley Dean and Nicki Richards).

The final two shows in Sydney plus the Melbourne club show were filmed for an upcoming release.
