Last Thursday Merle Haggard was canceling his February dates to battle a case of double pneumonia.
Haggard’s publicist told the media that Merle was still feeling weak and that he was seeking further treatment for the illness, saying to look for him back on the road in the spring.
Well, Merle obviously had other ideas because, on Saturday night, he was on stage at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for a show with Toby Keith.
Plus, those cancelled dates are back on. Even though shows in Santa Rosa, Lemoore and Oakland, CA, set for Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday nights were announced as cancelled, Haggard has now said that he WILL be making the Santa Rosa and Oakland shows. The February 11 show in Lemoore is, in fact, cancelled as Haggard will be at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills with Kris Kristofferson.
Haggard has fought pneumonia and other lung ailments numerous times in recent years after having part of a lung removed in treatment for cancer.
