Miley Cyrus is looking for ways to help those affected by the terror attacks in Belgium on Tuesday.
Around 30 people have been reported dead and more than a hundred were left injured in two explosions at Brussels international airport and a further blast at the Maelbeek metro station on Tuesday morning.
Many celebrities have taken to social media to send prayers to those in the city, including Miley, who tells her fans she is working with members of her Happy Hippie Foundation to help those impacted.
“My (heart) breaks for Brussels today,” she writes on Instagram. “My heart breaks for the world today…. When will this end, and the love begin….. This isn’t the planet I wanna live on… NOTHING in the world matters but giving love to others! It’s what we need more than anything else! MORE LOVE LESS EVIL!!!
“Talking with @happyhippiefdn now about what we can do to be there for our friends in Brussels … Stay tuned on how to get involved… today we must focus on what unites us …. not divides us.”
Miley, 23, founded the Happy Hippie Foundation in 2014. The non-profit organisation aims to help vulnerable youths, including the homeless and those in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
Many other stars took to Twitter to react to the horror. Actress Courteney Cox wrote, “Terrible news from Brussels. Praying for the victims and their families. Horrible,” while rapper Iggy Azalea posted, “Sending prayers to everyone in Brussels… #PrayForPeace”
Actor Ian Somerhalder added, “I was supposed to be in the Beautiful city of Brussels soon…My heart is with you all. So terrible,” and Christina Applegate wrote, “Just woke up to the horrible news. Thinking of the people in Brussels. My heart aches. Dammit!!!”
Scandal star Kerry Washington simply posted a praying hands emoji and “#Brussels” while Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden showed solidarity with the Belgians by used the hashtag “#JeSuisBruxelles”, or “I am Brussels”.
Culture Club star Boy George wrote, “My thoughts and prayers for Brussels this morning and for anyone killed or hurt in these terrible attacks and the families and loved ones,” and similarly 5 Seconds of Summer star Michael Clifford posted, “watching this news going on in Brussels makes me so sad. could’ve been anyone you love in that airport/metro. all of my love and prayers.”
The Brussels attacks comes just four days after Salah Abdeslam, a suspect in the November, 2015 Paris terror attacks, was arrested in Belgium. According to reports, one of the Brussels airport explosions was caused by a suicide bomber.
