N’Dea Davenport, the almost original singer for Brand New Heavies, has re-joined the band for a 2016 tour.
Davenport is technically the second singer for the acid jazz group. She replaced Jay Ella Ruth who recorded vocals for the first edition of the Brand New Heavies debut album. Davenport re-recorded Ruth’s vocals and the album was reissued the following year with the new N’Dea vocals.
With N’Dea Davenport, Brand New Heavies had a string of UK hits including ‘Never Stop’ (no 43, 1991), ‘Dream Come True’ (no 24, 1992), ‘Stay This Way’ (no 40, 1992), ‘Don’t Let It Go To Your Head’ (no 24, 1992), ‘Dream On Dreamer’ (no 25, 1994), ‘Back To Love’ (no 23, 1994), ‘Midnight At The Oasis’ (no 13, 1994), ‘Spend Some Time’ (no 26, 1994) and ‘Close To You’ (no 38, 1995).
The Brand New Heavies will play North American and European dates to be announced in 2016.
