Peter Hook To Tour Joy Division Albums

In 1987, Factory Records released the album Substance by New Order. Officially titled Substance 1987, the album compiled all of the band’s hits in their 12-inch versions plus each single’s b-side on a two-CD set. The album went to number 3 in the U.K. and 36 in the U.S., eventually gaining platinum status in both countries.

The next year, Factory released another album called Substance but this time it was a compilation of music by Joy Division, the band that was the basis for New Order after the death of Ian Curtis.

Common to both bands was Peter Hook who will be playing both albums, in their entirety, in the Fall on a tour of North America with his band The Light. Hook will start on September 22 and 23 at Webster Hall in New York before moving to Los Angeles’ Wiltern the next night. He then moves out for 24 more shows across the continent.
