The Rolling Thunder Festival advertised to take place at Kyral Castle in Ballarat in February was not given approval despite the promoter putting tickets on sale.
According to Ballarat’s The Courier promoter Robert McManus put tickets on sale this week for the festival even though Kyle Castle management denied the go ahead last week.
The Courier reports Kyral Castle manager Serena Eldridge confirming that the Rolling Thunder event was not approved and use of the venues name and image is unauthorised.
“He wouldn’t take no for an answer,” Ms Eldridge told The Courier. “(Kryal Castle is) a privately owned business and to try and harass us like this is not on.”
Rolling Thunder was to feature The Sword.
A statement at the Rolling Thunder Facebook page now reads:
PRESS RELEASE:
Due to unfortunate circumstances that related to a previous event at Kryal Castle, it is with a heavy heart that we announce it is no longer possible to hold Rolling Thunder Festival at the Kryal Castle site. We would like nothing more than to continue as originally planned but the situation is now outside of our control and the venue is concerned about alcohol fuelled violence due to their recent experiences. Although we appreciate the efforts of everyone involved, it has become apparent that Rolling Thunder Festival needs to find a more suitable home.
With that said, we can happily report that we’ve now found an amazing new site that alleviates one of our biggest concerns…. How are our punters going to get home safely in the evening? Answer: You don’t have to leave in the evening, you will now be able to camp overnight! Full details of the new site, location & transport will be announced very soon, stay tuned.
All tickets to the Kryal Castle will be valid for the new site.
We understand that the new location may not suit everyone, for that reason anyone wishing to get a refund is welcome to do so, please email and we’ll process your refund: [email protected]
