Steven Tyler Says Aerosmith Will End In 2017

Steven Tyler finally made a almost definitive statement on the future of Aerosmith.

Tyler appeared on Howard Stearn’s show on Tuesday morning, saying that the band would start their farewell tour next year; however, he didn’t promise how long the tour would last.

Pointing to other artists like KISS and The Who, he admitted that the tour might go “probably forever” adding “How about KISS? They did 19 farewell tours.”

Steven is about to fully make a commitment to country music with his debut album in the genre, We’re All Somebody From Somewhere, out on July 15. How well the album will sell, though, is very much up in the air. Three singles have been released so far. Love is Your Name went to number 19 on the Country Singles and 33 on Country Airplay while Red, White & You peaked at 29 and 46 respectively. The third single, We’re All Somebody From Somewhere, is yet to chart.

Tyler did want to put down any rumors that the members of the band are at odds. “I love this band. I really do. I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about ‘the band’s over.’ We’re doing a farewell tour – but only because it’s time. We’ve never done that.”

Guitarist Joe Perry is currently working in the collective the Hollywood Vampires and Brad Whitford recently reunited with his early-80’s partner Derek St. Holmes.
